Throwback: Big L & Jay-Z – Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito Show (Unreleased 10 Min Freestyle)

Posted on 16 May 2012 by admin

If you told the radio programmers of this show on the 23rd of February 1995 that Jay Z was going to be worth half a bil, own the Brooklyn Nets, marry one of the top Artists of the decade…they would have probably had you escorted out the studio.

It goes without saying that since the passing of Big L, hiphop culture has come to appreciate his legacy and his slaying caused the culture one of its greatest losses.

Big L who was at the time enjoying the moderate success off his debut a year prior, “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous”, introduced a younger Jay Z who was also featured on the album along with various other NY elite. #RIPBIGL #stoptheviolence

Video: 8th Ave – ‘Telegram’

Hip-hop has an interesting way of transcending through culture and still retaining its authenticity when conveyed right. From Kibera slums (Namba Nane/ Number 8) one of the largest ghettos in Africa enters 8th Ave aka “The Rhyme Demon”.

The young, humble and charismatic MC/Producer responsible for one of the regions biggest records in 2011 “Tokelezea” by Abbass f Chantell , 8th Ave is on a mission to put his hood on the map.

During a recent visit to Nairobi fellow MC/Director, Noggz, (www.therealnoggz.com) caught wind of the young hopeful and was instantly inspired to direct his debut single “Telegram” which is slated to have any hip-hop head itching for that golden era feel once again.

RD is planning on releasing his debut EP as well as continue producing for the numerous other MC’s through his own “Pure Black Pro” Imprint and much more.

Keep an eye out for 8th Ave, he has a story to tell.

Montell Jordan…

It seems like it was just yesterday when we were all singing and dancing to Montell Jordan’s hit record ‘This Is How We Do It’. That song was Montell Jordan’s breakout hit off his debut album of the same title.
As Def Jam’s only male solo R&B artist, he took advantage of his time in the limelight. Montell’s career ran its course over time and now… the crooner is using his voice to preach the word of God to the young people out there. Montell Jordan, once an R&B sensation, is now on a spiritual path and is a member of Victory World Church in Atlanta. Here is Montell delivering a heartfelt sermon recently…

The Road To Redemption: Mystikal Humble & Ready To Revamp Career

Posted on 25 April 2012 by Lnigel

It’s been a long time coming for Michael Tyler, better known as Mystikal. After serving a six-year prison sentence for sexual battery, the former No Limit rap star wants a chance to redeem himself and continue with his career. Since he’s been released, Mystikal has been open to doing interviews and wasted no time in getting back on his grind. Here’s an interview with Sway for MTV…

Get More: Music News

Mystikal still owes one more album to Jive Records and his contract will be fulfilled. The Louisiana native who was once a member of the No Limit Records roster recently signed with former rival label Cash Money Records, both based in New Orleans, Louisiana. We once knew the flamboyant rapper for his energetic personality and explosive performances, but now there’s a noticeably big change in Mystikal’s persona. He’s humbled himself down and makes it a point to let everyone know that he’s appreciative for the support from fans and peers. Snoop Dogg and Mystikal recently chopped it up about the past and even revealed facts about Snoop’s tenure at No Limit Records….

Michael Tyler aka Mystikal was convicted of a crime and served his time. It’s apparent that he feels remorse for what happened so what’s done is DONE. Mystikal has fulfilled his legal obligation to the victim and state of Louisiana, now it’s time to enjoy what he now has to offer us through his music.

“…we’ve got to take responsibility for what we do, too. “We’ve got to pay more attention to what we’re doing ourselves. We can’t be fools, especially when you’re blessed and successful beyond your dreams. We’ve got to tighten up…. I’m still trying to feel this reality, I was gone so long, all the things I achieved felt like a dream, like I had never done that stuff.”
