One Step Closer: Andre 3000 Set To Play Most Important Role Of His Career, Stars As Jimi Hendrix

The wait is over! Finally after years of anticipation, we get to see Andre 3000 take on the role playing Jimi Hendrix in ‘All Is By My Side’. Written and directed by John Ridley, the film focuses on the time frame when Hendrix was putting together his classic album, Are You Experienced (which takes place from 1966-1967.

As it becomes apparent in the following clip, Andre 3000 flawlessly channels Jimi Hendrix all the way down to his mannerisms and dialect. Andre recently revealed that he spent countless hours of watching footage of the legendary Hendrix and remained determined until he nailed it spot on. This is Andre’s biggest role as an actor thus far and by all means met the challenge head on.

Who would have thought that these two artists would ever collaborate to do a song? Not many…but the unlikely combo came together to make a timeless piece of music that gives us that small dosage of Andre 3000 he’s become known for over the past few years. ‘God Forgives, I Don’t’ could very well be on it’s way to classic status in a few months, that’s an honor that Rozay has come to deserve. But please Mr. 3000… we need some more of this, maybe even another Outkast album (hint, hint)!.

NEWS: Andre 3000 Prepares for Movie Role As Jimi Hendrix

It is almost impossible to come up with a suitable title that will suit Outkast’s Andre 3000. Its been a long road for the ATLien, considering since his debut as one half of arguable one of hip-hops most successful groups it has been a non-stop roll to new artistic heights.

Andre has continued to build his range as an actor and since he was appointed to star as famed Rock n Roll legend Jimi Hendrix it only goes to show that he is yet to prove himself even further.

There has been a tremendous buzz surrounding the role especially considering it is almost a perfect match just based on mild resemblance and also the fact that Andre is an equally acclaimed musician.

Although most hip-hop fans have awaited a follow up album from Andre 3000 and long term partner Big Boi, the duo have hinted at the possibility of a new Outkast project…one day (we shall see)

In the mean time, we can all look forward to the role which could very well establish 3 Stacks as one of tomorrows biggest urban actors.

Andre 3000 Opens Up About New Outkast Album

It almost seems like an eternity since we’ve had a new Outkast album to rock out to. Andre 3000, the eclectic half of the duo Outkast, says that we will have to wait a little while longer for a new ‘Kast album. The reason for that is mainly due to contract issues. Andre has been doing quite well financially without being signed to a major label, and he is skeptical in changing that. Making featured appearances on other artist’s songs has been lucrative and Andre doesn’t find a necessity in signing, especially since in doing so the label would take a cut of his profits. In a recent interview with GQ magazine, ‘Dre revealed that he enjoys being a solo artist, and with a new solo project on the way, he is in no hurry to change anything. He credits other artists for reaching out to him for featured appearances, and tries to remain humble because after being in the game for so long, he’s well aware of the pitfalls. But it doesn’t look like he has to worry about falling off any time soon though. Andre is now a spokesperson for Gillette and he plans to soon release some new items from his ‘Bixby’ clothing line. We may not get that new Outkast album as soon as we’d like but Andre is sure to be around for a long time. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that new Outkast album is stalled for too long!
