It’s amazing and equally refreshing to see just how far Chicago native, Common, has come. With a fresh new album (Nobody’s Smiling) on the way, Common sets his sights on cementing his name in the game as one of the all-time greats. Newly signed to Def Jam records, it’s apparent that even at this point in his career, the fire in his heart to deliver quality material is eternally lit. Even with an abundance of appearances in numerous blockbuster movies, Common still reps hard for Chicago and hip hop. We salute the rap veteran as he prepares to bring us yet another classic piece of material in just a few short weeks!
Remember when Ja Rule had everybody feeling the Murder Inc movement? For the ones who can’t remember or may not have known, Ja was the man. On top of the music charts, no major beefs, money was flowing, he was once almost unstoppable. Here’s one his tracks from earlier on in his career.
Newly signed MMG (Def Jam) artist, Gunplay, celebrates his new deal and wants fans to know that he is already working on his album which is due in early 2013. As if Maybach Music wasn’t already a dominating force, they add more heat to the fire!
Those were the good ol’ days… Nowadays when we hear any mention of Foxy Brown, the rapper, it’s usually followed by a wacky tale of how the female emcee managed to find herself in some type o trouble with authorities. But we want to let it be known that once upon a time she really was all about the music. Here’s a flashback from her debut album ‘Ill Na Na’. Oh and by the way, it was rumored that Foxy and Jay-Z were once an item. We’ll never know the truth behind that one but one thing is certain, they gave us a few classics that will always be held in high regards in the hip hop world.
It seems like it was just yesterday when we were all singing and dancing to Montell Jordan’s hit record ‘This Is How We Do It’. That song was Montell Jordan’s breakout hit off his debut album of the same title.
As Def Jam’s only male solo R&B artist, he took advantage of his time in the limelight. Montell’s career ran its course over time and now… the crooner is using his voice to preach the word of God to the young people out there. Montell Jordan, once an R&B sensation, is now on a spiritual path and is a member of Victory World Church in Atlanta. Here is Montell delivering a heartfelt sermon recently…
It looks like fans of DMX will get what they’ve been anxiously waiting for. X’s manager, Jason Fowler, recently announced that his next album will be released on June 26th. The name of the upcoming album is titled ‘Undisputed’. This will be DMX’s seventh studio album. Once a member of the Ruff Ryder crew, X will still be expected to bring heat.
There was a time when DMX had the whole world barking and howling as he graced the stage to pour his heart and soul out into his music. After a turbulent personal life plagued his career, the main attraction of the ‘Ruff Ryders’ movement fell from stardom but was never completely removed from our fond memories. DMX is currently making an attempt to emerge once again as one of hip hop’s greatest. At his best, he was nearly untouchable and everything he dropped was classic. Who else could drop two classic albums within a span of a year and have a slew of classic hits from both of them? Remember ‘It’s Dark and Hell is Hot’ & ‘Flesh of My Flesh…’ As a true music fan, I beg you to not count the dog out yet, he may have one more gem left! Here’s a look back at one of his most precious tracks, Slippin.
It’s official…the dog has been released from lock down and now he’s ready to bite! DMX was release from Yuma state prison today. It is reported that X, was greeted by close family members and friends immediately after release. The animated rapper revealed that he will be heading straight to the studio after a shopping trip and a visit to his probation officer. X was scheduled to be released last week but after failing a drug test, he was denied freedom until today.
