Skyzoo as we all know is a rather unique individual when it comes to this rap ishh. So when he dropped his latest project, A Dream Deferred, we all knew what to expect of him, right?? That may be the case, but luckily enough things didn’t exactly go as we expected. ‘A Dream Deferred’ features a collection of tracks produced by names such as 9th Wonder, !llmind, Jahlil Beats and a few others. The album as a whole has a soulful vibe and is heavily saturated with live instrumentation (horns, strings, pianos, etc). What’s so special about this album? The lyrics and overall vibe that’s brought with it is so joyful as well as inspirational. It’s a long call from the usual Rick Ross (“Unnhh”) or Meek Mill (“30 Racks”), but in this case, that would be considered a good thing. Skyzoo’s music has always been innovative and some have even called him inspirational. His ‘Jansport Strings’ joint is one of those that stand out on his latest project. The song is an ode to Chi-Ali, a young rapper whose rap career was cut short due to a prison bid he had to serve for a murder charge. He credits Chi-Ali for being the one who inspired him to be a rapper and he doesn’t hold back for letting it be known. Skyzoo, who is also a well-known sneaker head, is one to watch in the future, mainly because his music has substance and his passion for music is authentic. Don’t be surprised if 10 years from now we will still be hailing Skyzoo as one of the greats. And besides he’s from Brooklyn… a place where legends are born and bred everyday.

As J Cole prepares to release his upcoming album, he sits down with MTV and goes on to reveal his process on releasing his first two singles, in which both songs recieved warm receptions from fans.
Fans will have to remain in suspense for a little while longer as to when they’ll be able to view the upcoming documentary on A Tribe Called Quest. Apparently, producer of the project forwarded an email to his associates..but members of the rap group were not to see the email. Q-Tip and Ali Shaheed recently sat down with MTV and Sway to voice their disgust with the email. In the past few months, there have been rumors on why their was tension between the film’s executive producer, Michael Rapaport and Q-Tip. When asked about the their working relationship, it was said that Rapaport told media outlets and fans that disagreements came about because Q-Tip was upset about not being in control of the project. But ATCQ says it was much more than that. The basis of the controversy surfaced after the email was read by Q-Tip, who instantly expressed his disdain. According to Q-Tip, the letter read:
“First off let’s close the billing block and put it on the poster so they can’t get on that. Then we’ll **** them on everything else.”
If the email is indeed authentic, fans may never get to see the documentary because of the feuds it has caused. Creative control is one thing, but cutting the group members out of being credited for their input is dead wrong.

After petitions were filed by Sharon Haywood and Melinda Tankard, women activists, MTV was left with no choice but to ban Kanye’s new video for ‘Monster’. The petition called for MTV take the video out of rotation because of its suggestive insinuations that women are to be used as sexual objects and targets of violent acts. It is possible that Kanye isn’t the only one who will catch flack behind the video, because other big name artists appear in the piece. Those names include Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, and Jay-Z. It is uncertain if there will be an edited version of the video to be circulated, but due to the fact that the petition yielded thousands of signatures, this may be the last we see of the original video for the song.
